Men's Costume - Eastern Region

Issued in 1989 as part of the Omani Costumes series, this stamp commemorates the traditional men's costume of the Eastern Region (Al Sharqiyah) of Oman. The attire consists of the traditional dishdasha, a regional turban or head covering, and a ceremonial khanjar (curved dagger) worn at the waist. These elements have long been associated with the cultural traditions and social identity of eastern Oman, reflecting centuries of local customs and craftsmanship.

By featuring the men's costume of the Eastern Region, the Sultanate of Oman celebrated the diversity of regional dress traditions within the country.
