Nerium oleander subsp. mascatense (commonly referred to in botanical and regional literature as Nerium mascatense) is a highly specialized, localized subspecies of the ubiquitous oleander. It is deeply tied to the rugged typography of the Al Hajar Mountains and the arid wadi ecosystems of northern Oman and the wider United Arab Emirates. Named after the capital region of Muscat (Mascatense), this resilient evergreen shrub is an essential component of the native flora of the southeastern Arabian Peninsula.
